The death of Bronwen Pleiss was almost unbearably sad. She was in a car that hit a light pole on an East Coast tollway and she died at the scene. In 1966, Bronie was only three years beyond high school graduation. She was not even 21 years old at the time of her death. So very young. So very tragic.

i prefer to remember Browen Pleiss' life, rather than her death. Bronie was one of the happiest people I met at OPRFHS. Bronie was always smiling and she had a great laugh. It was so deep and loud that could bounce off the lockers when we were chatting in the hall. And we chatted often. She was friendly, kind and generous and she wanted the people around her to be happy too. She was one of the few classmates who thought I was funny; so I heard her laugh often. I can hear it still.

I think of you often and cherish your memory.

Bronwen was in my homeroom for all four years.  My memory is that I used to joke and tease with her and help her a little in, I think, Latin.  We were all girls and boys at that time.  I remember somehow knowing years ago that she had died in a car accident relatively soon after graduation.  I know I thought this is so tragic, a life cut so short, and that of a girl who had such a nice temprament and was so much fun and so "up".  This all came back to me a few months ago when I met only the second Bronwen of my life.  Bronwen was a great girl whose life ended so unfairly so soon.  I have been wanting to write something about her since the reunion process started.
