Paul Gipson was a special friend to me.  We met in Kindergarten at Holmes School.  We played sports, went to church together, and enjoyed each others’ company for over 50 years.  Paul and his family visited us several times in Arizona.  After College at NIU Paul worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and then went on to become a Managing Director with Goldman Sachs.  At age 45 Paul became President and CEO of Duff and Phelps, the prestigious Bond rating Company.  Shortly after assuming that position, he was diagnosed with a virulent form of leukemia. He resigned from Duff and Phelps and spent the next 8 years fighting his disease. He traveled extensively, was a consultant for several companies, and played golf throughout the world. He also devoted time to his charities and family. One of my fondest memories of Paul was when, on his 40th birthday, we played the Pebble Beach Golf Links together.  I will remember Paul as an extraordinarily successful businessman, a sought-after consultant, a father and husband, an avid golfer,  and a unique and special friend. Paul died in May of 2002 leaving his wife, Margie, and his two sons, Michael and Patrick. I miss him to this day.
