Bob was a good friend growing up. We lived a few blocks away in River Forest and went

to Washington together. Last time I saw him I was on Okinawa and he was on his way to

Nam with only less than 2 months left to serve. My condolences to his family.

Bobby was a part of a childhood foursome for me whose friendships helped us navigate through growing up. Bobby, Jerry Rierson, and Freddy Seibert and I were pretty much inseparable in grade school, and into junior high as I recall, even when other distractions of being a teenager began intruding.  I regret never seeing him at the reunions I attended. Not sure he attended any. I remember Bobby as the quite one, perhaps more sensible and gentle than any of us other three, which didn't surprised me a bit when I heard he had joined the marines and served in Viet Nam.  He obviously took duty to his country in much the same way as loyalty to his friends. Like many of us, he came from modest means. His dad was a painter. From his obituary, I think he lived a good life where family was at his center.

I remember the days at Washington School where I spent 5th & 6th grade with some of the greatest kids and friends that I have ever had. I knew Bob Moffatt because he was in my classes along with Jerry Rierson and John Shatzer. Time or at least length of it has been good to many of our 1963 classmates, but unfortunately it has not been kind to many. If wish that Bob had had longer to enjoy his family and especially the new grand-baby. I'm certain that the baby will be told of the many adventures that his grandfather had during his life. My best wishes to Bob's family and I wish Bob to be at peace. Rick Afton
